Product Overview 

The Teledyne RDI Workhorse II Monitor is a high-performance, direct-reading Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). While the Sentinel model is designed for autonomous battery-powered deployments, the Monitor is specifically engineered for real-time monitoring. It is typically mounted on the seafloor in a fixed frame or attached to a pier and hard-wired to a shore station or offshore platform via a power/data cable.

Updated in 2023, the Workhorse II version replaces the legacy Monitor with modernized electronics, a more robust connector, and a significantly improved compass, ensuring it remains the gold standard for ports, harbors, and renewable energy sites.

What Makes the "Monitor" Unique?

• Direct-Reading Design: Optimized for continuous data streaming. It lacks the internal battery compartment of the Sentinel, making it shorter, lighter, and easier to mount in compact bottom frames.
• VTS Integration: Its high reliability makes it the primary choice for Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) in major ports worldwide, providing pilots with real-time current speed and direction for safe docking and navigation.

Workhorse II Upgrades

The 2023 "Series II" refresh brought several critical enhancements to the Monitor platform:

• ISM Digital Compass: Replaces the old fluxgate compass with a MEMS-based Integrated Sensor Module. This provides 1.0° accuracy even at high tilt (up to ±70°) and improved performance near the magnetic poles.
• Enhanced Memory: Now comes with a Compact Flash (4GB to 64GB) card as standard, acting as a "black box" backup even when streaming data in real-time.
• Modernized Electronics: A unified CPU/DSP board reduces internal complexity and ensures long-term serviceability.
