The EdgeTech 3400 introduces significant enhancements to current sub-bottom profiler systems, offering users advanced capabilities for sub-bottom imaging in various aquatic environments. Employing wideband Frequency Modulated (FM) technology and EdgeTech’s proprietary Full Spectrum CHIRP technology, the 3400 generates high-resolution images of sub-bottom stratigraphy with excellent penetration across different bottom types.
Configured with dual 2-16 kHz transducers, the 3400 towfish features new PVDF receiver arrays segmented for standard sub-bottom profiling operations or a unique "pipeliner" mode optimized for locating and imaging buried pipelines. The system also facilitates Real-Time Reflection Coefficient Measurements, enabling users to collect intricate 'analytic' data and analyze sediment type determination using linear system architecture.
With discrete transmit and receive channels, the 3400 enables continuous data collection, resulting in a high ping rate, which is particularly crucial for construction and pipeline surveys. The topside configuration supports higher power configurations using an external amplifier, enhancing system performance.
The newly designed towfish can be towed behind a vessel or pole-mounted over the side, providing flexibility in deployment. The EdgeTech 3400 Sub-bottom Profiling System is delivered as a complete package, including a towfish, cable, and a topside processor configurable as a portable or rack-mount topside, running EdgeTech’s DISCOVER sub-bottom acquisition & processing software. Furthermore, the 3400 system can be interfaced with 3rd party software, ensuring compatibility with diverse data processing and analysis tools.
