The EdgeTech 3400 is a high-performance, wideband Frequency Modulated (FM) sub-bottom profiler designed for high-resolution imaging of sub-bottom stratigraphy in oceans, lakes, and rivers. Built on EdgeTech's legendary Full Spectrum® CHIRP technology, the 3400 delivers superior penetration in various bottom types while maintaining the crisp vertical resolution required for precise geological and engineering assessments.

As a "Portable" system, the 3400 is engineered for flexibility, featuring a hydrodynamic towfish that can be easily converted for pole-mount operations. It is the industry’s premier choice for surveyors who need a versatile system that can transition from deep-towed offshore missions to shallow-water coastal surveys on small boats of opportunity.

  • Integrated Motion & Position Sensors: The system includes internal sensors for pitch, roll, heave, and depth, ensuring all acoustic data is automatically corrected for vessel motion—a critical feature for high-accuracy surveying in rougher seas.
  • Discrete Transmit/Receive Channels: Unlike many entry-level systems, the 3400 features separate channels that allow for continuous data collection and a high ping rate, essential for high-speed construction and pipeline surveys.

  • Hybrid Deployment: The newly designed towfish can be towed behind a vessel or pole-mounted over the side with a simple adapter kit.
  • Digital Receiver & Ethernet Telemetry: All signal processing is performed within the towfish, and data is transmitted via a reduced-diameter tow cable using digital Ethernet, eliminating analog signal degradation.
