Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One

The Ultimate Entry-Level Direct Georeferencing Solution for Small Vessels and USVs

Product Overview

The Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One is a compact, user-friendly, and turnkey GNSS-aided Inertial Navigation System (INS) designed to provide high-accuracy attitude, heading, heave, position, and velocity data. As the entry-level variant in the industry-leading POS MV family, the SurfMaster One is specifically engineered for small manned survey boats and Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) where space and weight are at a premium.

The "One" designation refers to its unique single-enclosure form factor, which houses both the POS Computer System (PCS) and the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) in one ruggedized unit. By blending GNSS data with high-rate inertial observables and the GNSS Azimuth Measurement System (GAMS), it delivers a robust six-degree-of-freedom solution that ensures hydrographic professionals meet IHO standards even in challenging coastal environments.

Why Choose the Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One?

  • Compact All-In-One Design: Unlike larger systems that require a separate rack-mount processor and remote IMU, the SurfMaster One integrates everything into a single, small-footprint enclosure (1.3 kg), simplifying installation and mobilization on tight platforms.
  • Optimized for Shallow Water: Specifically tuned for the dynamics of small vessels, delivering a roll and pitch accuracy of 0.03°—perfect for high-resolution multibeam surveys in harbors, rivers, and coastal zones.
  • TrueHeave™ Technology: Features Applanix’s proprietary TrueHeave processing, which eliminates the need to tune filters for specific sea states and requires zero settling time, allowing you to start surveying the moment you hit the water.
  • IN-Fusion™ 2.0 Aiding: Utilizes advanced "tightly coupled" sensor fusion to maintain positioning integrity even when GNSS signals are partially obstructed by bridges, trees, or harbor infrastructure.
  • Microsecond Precision: All data is time-tagged to microsecond accuracy, ensuring seamless synchronization with multibeam echosounders (MBES) and LiDAR sensors to eliminate latency-induced errors.

  • Integrated IMU/PCS: The factory-aligned internal IMU eliminates the risk of mounting misalignments between the processor and the sensor, ensuring out-of-the-box accuracy.
  • SmartCal™ Compensation: Built-in calibration algorithms automatically compensate for temperature-induced drifts, maintaining high-integrity data across varying weather conditions.
  • GAMS Heading Reference: Employs a dual-antenna GNSS Azimuth Measurement System (GAMS) to provide stable, north-seeking heading that is immune to magnetic interference.
  • Post-Processing Ready: Fully compatible with POSPac MMS, allowing users to achieve "Elite" levels of accuracy (up to 0.02° roll/pitch) through post-processed kinematic (PPK) workflows.
  • Multi-Protocol Support: Features high-speed Ethernet and 5 configurable serial ports supporting NMEA and industry-standard binary formats for integration with HYPACK, QINSy, and Teledyne PDS.
