Kongsberg cNODE Mini - Transponder

The cNODE® family represents a series of transponders tailored for underwater acoustic positioning and data link applications. Compatible with both HiPAP®, HPR, and cPAP® transceivers, cNODE® functions seamlessly with either the HiPAP/HPR 400 channels and telemetry or the innovative Cymbal acoustic protocol.

Within the Medium frequency (MF) cNODE® family, distinct types are available, each with its own product specification sheet:


  1. cNODE Maxi and cNODE Midi (Medium frequency, 4000 m)
  2. cNODE Mini (Medium frequency, 4000 m)


These transponders offer versatile solutions for underwater applications, providing reliable performance at varying depths within the specified range.

The cNODE® series offers a Transparent Modem function with a range of capabilities:


  • Compatibility: Compatible with both Cymbal acoustic protocol for positioning and data link, as well as HiPAP®/HPR 400 channels and telemetry.
  • Positioning:
  • SSBL positioning
  • LBL positioning
  • Acoustic Data Link: Facilitates command and data transfer through an acoustic link.
  • Range Measurement Between Transponders:
  • Range accuracy: 0.02 m
  • Repeatability: 0.01 m (typical, 1 σ standard deviation)
  • Dual Functionality: Serves both as a transponder and responder.
  • Internal Tilt Sensor: ± 90° with an accuracy of ± 2°.
  • Pressure Relief Valve and Vent Screw: Integrated safety devices.
  • Configuration and Software Update: External connector for transponder configuration and software update via a serial line (TTC30 or TTC Light).
  • Modular Design: The cNODE® series features a modular design, allowing the individual replacement of components such as the transducer, transponder electronics, battery pack, and optional add-ons. This enhances flexibility and facilitates maintenance.
