Product Overview 

The Applied Acoustic Engineering (AAE) Pyxis INS + USBL represents the pinnacle of AAE's acoustic tracking technology. By permanently embedding a survey-grade Inertial Navigation System (INS) directly into the USBL transceiver head, Pyxis eliminates the need for traditional, time-consuming vessel calibrations.

This "factory-calibrated" approach tightly couples the acoustic transceiver with an SBG Systems Navsight Apogee INS. Because the alignment between the acoustic elements and the motion sensors is fixed at the factory, the system can be deployed on any vessel of opportunity and begin providing survey-grade data (up to 0.1% of slant range accuracy) within minutes.

  • 16 Target Tracking: Capable of tracking multiple ROVs, AUVs, divers, and towfish simultaneously using AAE's "Multi-Fire" common interrogation.
  • Geographical Overlays: The software supports GeoTiff and DXF overlays, allowing operators to track subsea assets directly against site plans or seabed maps.
  • Advanced Data Telemetry: Supports the MiQ telemetry protocol for 800bps uplink of subsea sensor data (e.g., depth, heading, or battery status).
  • Multiple Transceiver Options: Available in Omni-directional (180°) for general tracking or Directional (150°) for high-accuracy, long-range applications up to 4000m.
